What am I supposed to be? I guess that's what I should be telling you, but if I'm not exactly sure what I am then how can I tell you?

What I believe many people should ask the bigger questions and strive for real answers. That may make me a theorist or a philosopher trying to promote an idea. I enjoy illustrating and painting, so that might make me a visual artist. I also love songwriting alongside my guitar, which could make me a musician. But in the end all I might be is a cell within a larger organism striving to understand itself and gain self-consciousness, which makes me important, in a sense, but also insignificant in another sense.

Whatever I may be I know I am myself.

Dots and Lines: Complexity in the Light of Simplicity

This is something new I will be trying. I will still work on my usual pieces in order to develop a solid style over time, but I feel like I need some sort of an experiment to get things going. Having guidelines and time limits will push myself to do new things and will give me some direction rather than just randomly swimming around in the dark looking for a concept.

So, the project goes like this. Create a piece every day for the rest of this month, and in order to help save time it must all be done completely in black and white with only the shapes of dots and lines. The point is to demonstrate the emergence of complex notions, behaviours, and emotions all with these simple parameters. It falls well in line with my own personal theory that everything is connected through simple relationships, but it is the complexity of these relations that create the phenomena we all see.

Genius is my first piece of the collection and there will be more to come. Be sure to comment/critique away!
